“You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore”
- Psalms 16:11.
How do you relax when you find yourself exhausted and worn out? Some people drink coffee while some others prefer warm tea. Personally, I love drinking tea and after taking a few sips, my nerves become relaxed and I get my groove back.
However, I find it interesting that there are many times I long for the relaxation that tea brings me but rarely find time to enjoy it, usually out of absent-mindedness or lethargy.
Most times, I walk into the kitchen, take a quick glance at the beverages and walk right out. Only when I am really tired and need a quick nap do I run to my beverages and prepare myself something to help me relax.
While studying the scripture quoted above (Psalm 16:11), I realized that our attitude can be much the same way when it comes to prayer. We know the effect prayer has on our lives and how it can lift every burden, destroy every stronghold and fill us with peace, yet we feel too tired to pray at times, and only cry out to God during trying times.
Jeff, an American christian blogger of Scripture Zealot, suggests ways to remain in God's presence when we feel too weak to pray.
Just "be" in God's presence. No words are necessary. You may not feel God's presence but just acknowledge that He's everywhere and knows you and your situation. Psalm 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God."
Pray a written out prayer that you know is God's will.
Talk to God about how you feel as opposed to your regular devotional/prayer routine. Sometimes you can just talk to yourself without even praying directly to God. Psalm 62:8 says in part to "pour out your heart before Him".
Spend a short amount of time reading the Bible (as opposed to studying), like a Psalm.
It might not be necessary to do all at once, but as you have the energy.
You might not be able to easily handle extremely trying situations but it is good to prepare yourself as best you can.One moment with God can change everything. Do not wait until you are in a crisis before you call on Him.
God wants a deeper relationship with us that goes beyond going to Him only when we are in trouble.
Treat yourself to a good life by enjoying His presence all the time.
Have a pleasurable week ahead!!!
